Parliament resolution on Hong Kong: Jimmy Lai and 45 activists

What Changes

The resolution strongly condemns the sentencing of pro-democracy activists in the “Hong Kong 47” case, urges Hong Kong authorities to release and drop charges against activists, demands the release of journalist Chung Pui-kuen and requests targeted sanctions under the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime against John Lee and other Hong Kong and PRC officials. It also calls on the EEAS to bolster support for the EU Office in Hong Kong, asks the Commission to consider suspending favourable customs-territory treatment for Hong Kong and reiterates the call for Member States to suspend extradition treaties with the PRC and Hong Kong.
