European Parliament resolution on human rights in Bangladesh, notably Odhikar

The European Parliament adopted Motion for a Resolution B9‑0384/2023 on the human rights situation in Bangladesh, notably the case of Odhikar, under procedure 2023/2833(RSP), recorded as P9_TA(2023)0324; the document was last updated on 12 September 2023.
What Changes
The adopted text calls on Bangladeshi authorities to end the use of excessive force and arbitrary arrests, create a safe environment for human rights defenders, rescind Odhikar’s deregistration and drop charges against its officials, and to ensure that digital legislation complies with international human rights law while urging EU bodies to systematically raise these concerns and link Bangladesh’s Everything But Arms arrangement to human rights improvements.
