EU launches Green Deal Industrial Plan to boost net-zero industry
Main Message
The Commission's plan aims to create a more supportive environment for scaling up EU manufacturing of net-zero technologies, built on four pillars: a predictable and simplified regulatory environment, faster access to finance, enhanced skills, and open trade for resilient supply chains. It includes proposals such as a Net-Zero Industry Act, a Critical Raw Materials Act and reforms to electricity market design.
Why It Matters
Faster permitting, targeted state aid rules and new funding tools seek to mobilise public and private investment and speed industrial deployment of clean technologies needed to meet EU climate goals. Skills measures and trade initiatives are intended to ensure workers and supply chains can support large-scale manufacturing.
What Follows
The Commission will consult Member States on state aid changes, propose regulatory acts and pursue funding measures including a proposed European Sovereignty Fund and guidance to access REPowerEU funds.
