Regulation on the European Maritime Safety Agency adopted
Decision
The European Parliament, sitting in plenary on 13 November 2025, recommended second reading on the Council position at first reading with a view to adopting a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Maritime Safety Agency, under procedure 2023/0163(COD). The plenary noted that no proposals to reject the Council position or amendments under Rules 68 and 69 had been tabled, the Council position was deemed approved and the proposed act was adopted as P10_TA(2025)0260 following text A10-0217/2025 and the Committee on Transport and Tourism rapporteur Sérgio Humberto.
What Changes
The adopted measure establishes a new regulation on the European Maritime Safety Agency and explicitly repeals Regulation (EC) No 1406/2002, effecting a legal replacement of the earlier framework. The outcome implements the Council position at first reading as considered by Parliament in its second-reading recommendation.
