Decision

The European Parliament adopted a legislative resolution of 10 April 2024 giving its consent to the conclusion of the Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Members of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, recorded as P9_TA(2024)0206 and A9‑0147/2024 under procedure 2023/0464(NLE). Parliament acted with regard to the draft Council decision (05789/2024), the draft Partnership Agreement (08372/1/2023), the Council's request for consent (C9‑0029/2024) and opinions and recommendations from its committees.

What Changes

Parliament's consent enables the formal conclusion of the Partnership Agreement on behalf of the European Union and completes the parliamentary step required for that conclusion. Parliament also instructed its President to forward its position to the Council, the Commission and the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the Members of the OACPS.

Who Is Affected

The decision directly concerns the European Union and its Member States and the Members of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, as well as the EU institutions involved in the conclusion process.
