Parliament consents to EU‑Switzerland border management funding agreement

In plenary in Brussels on 10 April 2024 the European Parliament adopted by a majority the recommendation on the draft Council decision (procedure 2023/0229(NLE); document A9-0145/2024) and approved the draft Council decision, producing the adopted text P9_TA(2024)0215. The minutes record that Parliament consented to the conclusion of the Agreement between the Union and the Swiss Confederation following a vote at 21:40.
What Changes
The adopted recommendation authorises the Council decision to conclude an Agreement on supplementary rules in relation to the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy for the period 2021 to 2027, as referenced in documents 12122/2023 and C9-0461/2023. Parliament’s consent confirms its formal approval for the Union to conclude that international agreement.
