Parliament consents to EU‑Iceland agreement on border management fund rules

The European Parliament gave its consent to the conclusion of the Agreement between the Union and Iceland on supplementary rules relating to the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy, reflecting recommendation A9-0146/2024 and the adopted legislative text P9_TA(2024)0213; the committee responsible adopted the report on 19 March 2024 with a final committee vote of 43 in favour, 4 against and 7 abstentions.
What Changes
The Agreement sets out the supplementary rules necessary for Iceland’s participation in the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy as part of the Integrated Border Management Fund for the 2021–2027 programming period. The rapporteur records that Iceland will follow the rules defined in Regulation (EU) 2021/1148 and the applicable articles of the Common Provisions Regulation and the Financial Regulation similarly to EU Member States.
