Parliament consents to EU–Iceland agreement on border management fund
Decision
The European Parliament adopted recommendation A9-0146/2024 from the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and approved the draft Council decision P9_TA(2024)0213, recorded as DRAFT COUNCIL DECISION Approved. The recommendation was tabled by rapporteur Malik Azmani and the vote was recorded on 10 April 2024 at 21.38 and carried by a majority of the votes cast.
What Changes
Parliament’s consent clears the way for the Union to conclude an agreement with Iceland containing supplementary rules in relation to the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy as part of the Integrated Border Management Fund. The adopted texts and recommendation refer explicitly to that instrument for the period 2021 to 2027.
