Parliament adopts rules on transparency of third‑country interest representation
Decision
The European Parliament approved the Commission proposal and the committee's amendments, adopting the plenary text P10_TA(2025)0306. Parliament also approved a request to refer the matter back to the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection for interinstitutional negotiations following the rapporteur's request under Rule 60(4).
What Changes
The adopted measure establishes harmonised requirements in the internal market on transparency of interest representation carried out on behalf of third countries and amends Directive (EU) 2019/1937, as set out in the Commission proposal COM(2023)0637 and the committee report C9-0464/2023. The parliamentary text therefore creates uniform transparency obligations for such third‑country interest representation across the internal market.
Who Is Affected
The rules target interest representation carried out on behalf of third countries and entities subject to Directive (EU) 2019/1937 operating in the internal market.
