NEAFC-area conservation and control measures adopted
Decision
The European Parliament adopted a provisional agreement on the report for a regulation laying down conservation, management and control measures applicable in the area covered by the Convention on future multilateral cooperation in the North‑East Atlantic fisheries (procedure 2023/0206(COD), COM(2023)0362), by a majority of the votes cast and recorded as adopted under [P9_TA(2024)0199].
What Changes
The adopted text establishes a regulation that lays down conservation, management and control measures for the NEAFC area, amends Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 and Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009, and repeals Council Regulation (EEC) No 1899/85 and Regulation (EU) No 1236/2010. Parliament’s first reading was thereby closed.

The measures apply to fisheries and operators active in the North‑East Atlantic area covered by the NEAFC Convention and interact with the EU fisheries legal framework.
