MEPs reaffirm strong support for Ukraine’s EU path
Key Message
MEPs strongly reaffirmed that Ukraine’s future is as a Member of the European Union and condemned the illegal and unjustified Russian war of aggression. They said the European Parliament and the EU are strong allies and will continue to stand with Ukraine and its people.
Context
The statements came during the first Inter-Committee Meeting between committee chairs of the European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada, where participants debated the nature and challenges of the EU accession process. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola described the meeting as the launch of in-depth, comprehensive and concrete sectorial cooperation between the two institutions to support Ukraine’s European path.
Implications
MEPs signalled willingness to deepen institutional ties and offer more support and expertise on alignment with EU laws and post-war recovery, and called for a transparent, accountable and inclusive governance architecture for reconstruction that ensures Ukrainian ownership.
