Foodstuffs for human consumption: amending certain ‘breakfast’ directives

Decision

The European Parliament adopted, by a majority of the votes cast, the provisional agreement on the committee report for the proposal to amend several Council directives; the plenary adopted the text P9_TA(2024)0193 and thereby closed Parliament’s first reading on 10 April 2024 in Brussels. The procedure reference is 2023/0105(COD) and the report selected was A9‑0385/2023.

What Changes

The adopted text amends Council Directive 2001/110/EC relating to honey, Council Directive 2001/112/EC relating to fruit juices and certain similar products intended for human consumption, Council Directive 2001/113/EC relating to fruit jams, jellies and marmalades and sweetened chestnut purée intended for human consumption, and Council Directive 2001/114/EC relating to certain partly or wholly dehydrated preserved milk for human consumption. The report was prepared by the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety with Alexander Bernhuber as rapporteur.
