Euro 7 type‑approval regulation adopted at first reading (P9_TA(2024)0153)
Decision
The European Parliament adopted its position at first reading on 13 March 2024 on the Commission proposal for a Euro 7 regulation, recorded as P9_TA(2024)0153 and linked to A9-0298/2023 and procedure 2022/0365(COD). The position replaces the amendments adopted on 9 November 2023 and followed a provisional agreement approved by the responsible committee, with the Council representative undertaking by letter of 8 January 2024 to approve Parliament’s position.
What Changes
Parliament’s adopted position sets the text for a Regulation of the Union that amends Regulation (EU) 2018/858 and repeals Regulations (EC) No 715/2007 and (EC) No 595/2009, together with specified Commission regulations and implementing acts named in the document. Where an agreement was reached between Parliament and Council, Parliament’s position corresponds to the final legislative act, recorded as Regulation (EU) 2024/1257, and the text was to be forwarded to the Council, the Commission and national parliaments.
Who Is Affected
The measures apply directly to motor vehicles and engines and to systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
