EU rules on measures against countries allowing non‑sustainable fishing amended

The European Parliament adopted the provisional agreement on the Committee on Fisheries report A10-0070/2025, closing its first reading and recording the adopted text as P10_TA(2025)0150; the adoption was by a majority of the votes cast and was taken in plenary in Strasbourg on 9 July 2025. The report follows the Commission proposal COM(2024)0407 and the ordinary legislative procedure file 2024/0224(COD).
What Changes
The adopted text amends Regulation (EU) No 1026/2012 to update certain measures for the purpose of the conservation of fish stocks specifically in relation to countries that allow non‑sustainable fishing, as set out in the Parliament’s report and the provisional agreement. The legal effect is to modify the existing regulatory framework in line with the provisions negotiated and adopted in the provisional agreement.
