EU Parliament position on Regulation on the safety of toys
Decision
The European Parliament adopted at first reading on 13 March 2024 a position with a view to the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2024/… on the safety of toys, recorded under reference EP‑PE_TC1‑COD(2023)0290. The text of the position is available in the official TC1-COD-2023-0290 documents in PDF and DOC formats.
What Changes
The adopted position establishes a Regulation on the safety of toys and explicitly repeals Directive 2009/48/EC, replacing the existing directive-based legal instrument with the new Regulation text. This change therefore substitutes the previous directive framework by a Regulation concerning toy safety at EU level.
Who Is Affected
The instrument concerns the safety of toys within the EU and thus pertains to the legal framework that applies to toys and their regulation in EU territory.
