EU-Norway agreement on border management fund rules

Decision

On 10 April 2024 the European Parliament adopted a legislative resolution (P9_TA(2024)0214) giving its consent to the draft Council decision to conclude the Agreement between the EU and the Kingdom of Norway on supplementary rules relating to the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy. The resolution (A9‑0143/2024) instructs the President to forward the Parliament's position to the Council, the Commission and the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the Kingdom of Norway.

What Changes

The consent authorises the Union to conclude the Agreement that lays down supplementary rules for that Instrument as part of the Integrated Border Management Fund for the period 2021 to 2027. This provides the legal authorisation needed to finalise the international arrangement.

Who Is Affected

It concerns the European Union, the Kingdom of Norway, the Council, the Commission and the Member States' governments and parliaments and pertains to border management and visa policy instruments.
