Establishing the Union Customs Code and the European Union Customs Authority
Decision
The European Parliament adopted report A9-0065/2024 on the proposal for a regulation establishing the Union Customs Code and the European Union Customs Authority (procedure 2023/0156(COD)). The adopted text is recorded as P9_TA(2024)0151 after approval of the Commission proposal COM(2023)0258 and Parliament’s amendments by a majority of the votes cast on 13 March 2024, and the rapporteur Deirdre Clune made a statement before the vote under Rule 159(4).
What Changes
The adopted text approves the Commission proposal together with Parliament’s amendments to set up a Union Customs Code and to establish a European Union Customs Authority. The adoption repeals Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 and closes Parliament’s first reading.
Who Is Affected
The decision concerns the Union customs legal framework and the institutions defined in the adopted regulation, in particular the newly established European Union Customs Authority.
