Conservation, management and control measures in the North‑East Atlantic
Decision
The European Parliament adopted its position at first reading on 10 April 2024 (text adopted P9_TA(2024)0199; document A9‑0004/2024) under procedure 2023/0206(COD), on the basis of the Commission proposal COM(2023)0362 and the Committee on Fisheries report A9‑0004/2024. Parliament instructed its President to forward its position to the Council, the Commission and the national parliaments and asked the Commission to refer the matter back to Parliament if it substantially amends the proposal.
What Changes
The adopted regulation lays down conservation, management and control measures applicable in the area covered by the Convention on future multilateral cooperation in the North‑East Atlantic fisheries and aligns EU rules with that Convention. It amends Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 and Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009 and repeals Regulation (EU) No 1236/2010 and Council Regulations (EEC) No 1899/85 and (EEC) No 1638/87.
Who Is Affected
The measures affect fisheries operating in the area covered by that Convention and the EU legal and control frameworks governed by the amended and repealed regulations.
