Amending Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 on battery due diligence obligations
Decision
The European Parliament adopted its position at first reading on 10 July 2025 on the proposal to amend Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, as recorded in legislative resolution P10_TA(2025)0164 and report A10-0134/2025. It instructed its President to forward that position to the Council, the Commission and the national parliaments, called on the Commission to refer the matter back if it replaces or substantially amends the proposal, and noted that the text was not yet published in the Official Journal.
What Changes
The adopted text amends Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 specifically concerning obligations of economic operators on battery due diligence policies and, following agreement between Parliament and Council, corresponds to the final legislative act Regulation (EU) 2025/1561. The measure was processed under procedure 2025/0129(COD) and drew on the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety report.
