4th EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly meets in London

Context

The fourth meeting of the EU‑UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly took place in London on 4–5 December 2023, co‑chaired by Ms Nathalie Loiseau and Sir Oliver Heald and opened in session one by Dame Rosie Winterton MP and in session two by the Rt Hon Lord McFall of Alcluith. The meeting comprised plenary sessions, themed break-out groups and side events with EU citizens' organisations, university societies and other groups.

Key Topic

Plenary discussions covered the state of play within the Partnership Council and mobility of people, and members later exchanged views on artificial intelligence and climate change including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Break-out groups focused on data protection, fisheries and citizens' rights.

What to Watch

The assembly produced a PPA Recommendation on youth mobility schemes, student exchanges, school trips and touring artists and published minutes and reports from the break-out groups and meeting.
