3rd EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly Meets in Brussels

Context

The assembly brought together EU and UK parliamentarians under the Parliamentary Partnership Assembly framework and was held in Brussels on 3–4 July 2023. The meeting was organised across two sessions, including plenary sittings and thematic break-out groups.

Plenary on 3 July focused on the state of play within the Partnership Council and the future of foreign and security policy, including in the framework of the European Political Community, while afternoon break-outs addressed mobility of persons, climate and energy, and twinning and civil society cooperation. The 4 July plenary opened with an address by the President of the European Parliament and included exchanges on EU‑UK common efforts to support Ukraine and sanctions and on cooperation on trade and industrial policy, including the response to the US Inflation Reduction Act.
