Parliament adopts updated TEN‑T Union guidelines
Decision
In Strasbourg on 24 April 2024 the European Parliament adopted by a majority the provisional agreement on the proposal for a regulation on Union guidelines for the development of the trans‑European transport network, closing Parliament’s first reading; the adopted text is recorded as P9_TA(2024)0317 and the parliamentary report as A9-0147/2023.
What Changes
The text updates the Union guidelines for development of the trans‑European transport network, expressly amends Regulation (EU) 2021/1153 and Regulation (EU) No 913/2010 and repeals Regulation (EU) No 1315/2013, thereby changing the legal framework governing TEN‑T planning and implementation.
Who Is Affected
The outcome directly concerns the trans‑European transport network and EU institutions responsible for its governance, including the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union, and stems from work by the Committee on Transport and Tourism with rapporteurs Barbara Thaler and Dominique Riquet.
