EU Parliament gives consent to EU–Japan air services agreement
Decision
Parliament gave its consent to the draft Council decision approving the conclusion, on behalf of the Union, of the Agreement between the European Union and Japan on certain provisions of agreements between Member States and Japan for air services. The plenary approved the draft Council decision by a majority of the votes cast and the adopted text is recorded as P9_TA(2023)0257; the procedure reference is 2022/0419(NLE) and the rapporteur was Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar.
What Changes
Parliament’s consent formally enables the Union to conclude the specified Agreement with Japan, completing the parliamentary step required for the EU to proceed to conclusion on behalf of the Union. The adopted draft Council decision implements the parliamentary approval necessary for that procedural and legal step.
