Sustainable aviation fuels: ReFuelEU Aviation Initiative report debated

The European Parliament debated and recorded its report on Commission proposal COM(2021)0561 on ensuring a level playing field for sustainable air transport (procedure 2021/0205(COD)), presented by rapporteur José Ramón Bauzá Díaz (A9-0199/2022), and the session lists texts adopted P9_TA(2022)0297 and P9_TA(2023)0319; the debate on 12 September 2023 closed and votes are recorded in the minutes of 13.9.2023 item 7.9. An initial debate and an initial vote took place on 7 July 2022 and that vote referred the matter back to the committee for interinstitutional negotiations under Rule 59(4).
What Changes
The report sets out Parliament's position on the ReFuelEU Aviation Initiative proposal and moves the file into interinstitutional negotiation by referral back to the responsible committee; the Transport and Tourism Committee introduced the report and rapporteurs from the ENVI and ITRE committees delivered opinions. The Commission was represented in the debate by Adina-Ioana Vălean.
