Safety of toys and repealing Directive 2009/48/EC
Decision
The European Parliament adopted report A9-0044/2024 in plenary in Strasbourg on 13 March 2024, approving the Commission proposal COM(2023)0462 and Parliament’s amendments by a majority of the votes cast. The adopted plenary text is recorded as P9_TA(2024)0144 and Parliament’s first reading is thus closed.
What Changes
The adoption approves a regulation on the safety of toys which, as set out in the proposal, repeals Directive 2009/48/EC. The decision implements the Commission proposal and the committee amendments under procedure 2023/0290(COD).

The measure concerns the EU legislative framework on toy safety and was prepared in the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection with rapporteur Marion Walsmann.
