Parliament consents to EU–Côte d’Ivoire FLEGT partnership

Decision

The European Parliament adopted the recommendation on the draft Council decision to conclude, on behalf of the Union, the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber and timber products, under document A9-0136/2024. The draft Council decision was approved as P9_TA(2024)0208 and the outcome was decided by a majority of the votes cast, recorded in the plenary vote PV 10/04/2024 - 21.33.

What Changes

Parliament’s consent formally enables the conclusion of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the Union and Côte d’Ivoire, implementing the agreed framework on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber and timber products to the EU. The adopted text provides the parliamentary endorsement required for the agreement to be concluded on behalf of the Union.
