Parliament approves Euro 7 vehicle type‑approval regulation

Decision

The European Parliament approved a provisional agreement on the proposal for a regulation on type-approval of motor vehicles and engines and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, with respect to their emissions and battery durability (Euro 7). The outcome is recorded as P9_TA(2024)0153 after a majority of the votes cast and Parliament’s first reading was closed; the report and proposal references include COM(2022)0586 and C9-0375/2022 and the rapporteur was Alexandr Vondra.

What Changes

The adopted text establishes an EU regulation on Euro 7 type-approval covering vehicle and engine emissions and battery durability and it repeals Regulations (EC) No 715/2007 and (EC) No 595/2009. The measure implements the Commission proposal into a provisional agreement endorsed by Parliament.
