Parliament adopts regulation to phase out Russian gas
Decision
The European Parliament adopted the provisional agreement contained in P10_TA(2025)0330 on the report linked to COM(2025)0828 under procedure 2025/0180(COD), with the proposal to reject the Commission proposal having been rejected. The outcome was recorded in plenary on 17 December 2025 in Strasbourg and closed Parliament’s first reading.
What Changes
The adopted text implements a regulation aimed at phasing out Russian natural gas imports, improving monitoring of potential energy dependencies and amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1938, as set out in report A10-0195/2025 from the Committees on International Trade and on Industry, Research and Energy. The Commission statement accompanying the text was approved.
