Motion for a Resolution on the EU–Morocco Association Agreement
EP Position
The motion regrets the Commission’s intention to circumvent CJEU rulings and calls for their immediate and effective enforcement. It calls on the Commission to suspend the EU‑Morocco Association Agreement given Morocco’s failure to comply with CJEU rulings and EU traceability and labelling standards.
Key Trade Point
The text recalls the CJEU ruling that fruit and vegetables harvested in Western Sahara must be labelled indicating "Western Sahara" as the country of origin and notes that agricultural imports from Morocco, including Western Sahara under Morocco’s control, have dramatically increased. It states that Western Saharan products are still being imported under a Moroccan label in breach of the rulings and calls on the Commission and Member States to reinforce border controls to protect EU farmers from unfair competition.
What Comes Next
It instructs the Parliament’s President to forward this resolution to the Commission and the Member States.
