EU-Argentina exchange of letters amending tariff-rate quotas after UK withdrawal

Decision

The European Parliament adopted a legislative resolution on 10 April 2024 giving its consent to the conclusion of the Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters between the EU and the Argentine Republic amending the earlier Exchange of Letters pursuant to Article XXVIII of GATT 1994 (P9_TA(2024)0211; A9-0083/2024). It instructed its President to forward its position to the Council, the Commission and the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the Argentine Republic.

What Changes

The agreement modifies concessions on all the tariff-rate quotas included in the EU Schedule CLXXV to reflect the consequences of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, following the draft Council decision and draft agreement (12378/2023 and 12379/2023).

Who Is Affected

The decision directly concerns the European Union and the Argentine Republic and the tariff-rate quotas listed in the EU Schedule CLXXV.
