Amendment of EU–Norway VAT cooperation agreement: Parliament gives consent
Decision
The European Parliament adopted the draft legislative resolution (A9‑0057/2024) giving its consent to the Council decision to conclude the amendment of the Agreement between the European Union and the Kingdom of Norway on administrative cooperation, combating fraud and recovery of claims in the field of value added tax; the decision was adopted in committee on 22.2.2024 and tabled in Parliament on 26.2.2024.
What Changes
The amendment updates the 2018 Agreement to enhance the Eurofisc network with reinforced governance and joint data processing and analysis, to allow joint administrative enquiries and audits, to enable cooperation with law enforcement bodies such as Europol and OLAF, and to permit broader means of information exchange and sharing of import and vehicle data while updating references to EU data protection rules and clarifying the Joint Committee's non-competence for general data protection disputes.
