Parliament adopts position to amend Regulation 2018/1806 for Vanuatu

Decision

The European Parliament adopted its position at first reading on 27 November 2024 on the Commission proposal COM(2024)0365 to amend Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 as regards Vanuatu under procedure 2024/0128(COD). Parliament instructed its President to forward its position to the Council, the Commission and the national parliaments and called on the Commission to refer the matter back to Parliament if it replaces or substantially amends its proposal.

What Changes

Parliament’s adopted position constitutes its first-reading stance on the proposed amendment and, as an agreement was reached between Parliament and Council, corresponds to the final legislative act, Regulation (EU) 2025/11. The report of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (A10-0015/2024) informed Parliament’s decision.

Who Is Affected

The measure directly involves the European Union institutions and Vanuatu and will be forwarded to the Council, the Commission and national parliaments.
