Commission acts against dumped imports of valine from China

Key development

The Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of valine from the People’s Republic of China, with rates ranging from 31.3% to 53.8% following an investigation.

Context

The investigation found that imports from China were entering the EU at dumped prices and causing injury to the EU valine industry, which is located in France.

Details

Valine is produced in food, feed and pharmaceutical grades and is used notably in animal feed, primarily for the pork and poultry sectors, in the food industry as a dietary supplement, and in the pharmaceutical industry. The EU market for valine is worth €100 million, with imports from China accounting for about €80 million.

Next steps

The duties are definitive and the measures are published as definitive measures. The Commission published the decision on 13 February 2026 and provides further information via the definitive measures notice.
